The farm

Gem here sat in Munich airport....the hol is over and its 14:40 on the 9th oct, happy birthday to Lyn.
After breakfast at Vinayak we got picked up by a transfer taxi to The Farm, a art hotel about half an hour away from Jaipur.
The place was even better than the pics on the internet. This was one of those places that Phill wasn't that fussed about and he wasn't sure what to expect as it was one of the places i had chosen. However, on checking in it was Phill who decided not to continue with our days plan of returning to Jaipur city to visit the fort, lassiwalla and the block printing factory but instead he wanted to just chill by the pool and drink beer and get some sun for a few hours so that is what we did. Minus the beer for me but i had gotten used to Sula wine by now, the Indian Sav Blanc that was quite drinkable.
We got taken to an outdoor table for lunch shortly after we had decided to stay around and were served a simple yet delicious lunch of watermelon and onion salad (who would have thought they go together but they do), bacon, mushroom and spinach salad, veg rice, roasted chilli veg followed by pieces of apple with spices on them.

We lounged by the pool for a couple of hours and then before no time it was 6 and dinner was 7:30 so we went back to our gorgeous Hindu Deity suite and got ready for our evening meal. The suite is amazing, it has a lovely outdoor style shower room and large two seater bath and then outside there is a little hammock swing and plunge pool, all private and not overlooked in any way. The bed is massive with a large seating area also. The room is so well designed, we loved it.

We got to the poolside a little before 7ish as my mum was going to skype me and you could only get wifi around the pool. After some bday greetings to my sis and hellos to dad, stu, mum, mel, blake and coben we sat down at a candlelit table by the pool, just us as no one else was staying there, its low season.

Our personal waiter for the duration was a lovely man called Narpat, a true gentleman. On sitting we were given a hand written menu with the dinner on for the evening. We had:
Chilled cucumber soup
Tempered cabbage salad and samosa
Traditional lamb stew with Indian bread and yoghurt
Indian rice pudding
We sat up for a few hours with our hosts Surya and Ritu, a lovely Hindu couple who own and run the place. We enjoyed a few drinks and put the world to rights.
We got to bed about 1/2am so we didn't make it for breakfast until about 9:30. We had a lovely breakfast of an Indian Pancake with masala veg and a chilli chutney, toast and scrambled eggs.
We had decided to lounge around and enjoy the tranquility of the place today so thats what we did. I read a book....yes a real book and not a cookery one!! In the pool and Phill snoozed on the sun loungers. I went for a wander and took some pics of the place and Phill snoozed!!

Then Phill drank beer and snoozed!! We then had a yummy lunch of a mixture of salads from a tomato and chickpea one to a spiced mini aubergine salad, carrot and cucumber with sesame seeds with fresh chapattis followed by fruit and cream.

We went for a little walk and went and snoozed on the largest hammock ever seen, it was so relaxing and peaceful compared to the last couple of weeks and all the hustle and bustle from the cities.

I would like to say that we did more than just eat, chill out, snooze, read etc today but we didn't as it was our one proper full day to just do nothing.

We had our evening meal at about 8pm on the large terrace overlooking the pool by candlelight:
Lemon and coriander soup
Cauliflower florets with mixed greens in a soy and vinegar dressing sprinkled with sesame seeds
Khichri (comfort food for indians- rice, lentils and vegetables) served with chicken in pickling spices with diced cucumber and tomato
Mishri hawa - solidified milk dessert...tastes a bit like cold custard
Needless to say we really enjoyed our two days here of having quite a few drinks (our bill was a tad more than we had budgeted), eating some lovely food and just chilling away from the maddening crowds.
We sadly had to check out about 5am the next morning as we had to get a train to Delhi for our last 1.5 days before flying home so we paid up in the evening and organised a train station transfer and had a few hours sleep before getting up and getting the double decker train to Delhi on the 7th Oct.
