Arriving in Jaipur

So, we arrive in Jaipur airport on the 1st of Oct and hop a government pre paid taxi to Anurrag villa, just to be on the safe side plus we don't have the full address as I forgot to download it onto the ipad when we had wifi. The taxi man says the driver knows where it is....he didn't! However, he did his best and stopped and asked people and within a few extra minutes we pulled up at the guesthouse to be surprised by a massive building that was lit up in the night sky, not in an 80s neon way. There was a gorgeous green morris minor in the driveway, an old gentleman on security duty sat at the gate who offered to help us with our luggage and a helpful reception man who spoke good english. The place had a nice feel and as we were shown to our room we walked up a couple of flights of stairs that had the most amazing ceilings, all hand painted and they were beautiful.....even if they were just ceilings.

We had booked a basic room with private bathroom but no air con and it was something like a tenner for the night. We just needed a cheap and convenient stop over as we didn't get there until gone 10pm and we were leaving the next morning to get the train to Ranthambore.

We were surprised by this hotel/guesthouse as it was really nice. We went down and sat in the garden lit by lanterns and candlelight and had a milkshake. There were three local artists in the garden who put on a puppet show in the evenings for the kids. We were invited to watch it, so with front row seats we were treated to a 15/20 min puppet show with one of the gentlemen singing. It was quite good actually and funny in places and it made for a sweet end to a nice day but we were feeling a bit tired so headed for bed.

About 7 ish on the 2nd of Oct we had a lovely breakfast sat in the garden whilst chatting to a welsh lady....i am starting to think that we have already blogged this and published it but I cant access it as I am on the train to Delhi (7th Oct). Oh well!

We checked out and headed for the train station.

Location:Anurrag Villa
