Back to Delhi

This is our last train on our trip, and it dawns on us both that its nearly over :-( its also our earliest train so far, and yet another stupidly early alarm!
We settled our bill last night so all we have to do today is get in the car, wave goodbye to the absolutely wonderful Narpat who has taken excellent care of us, and get to the train station.
We are getting a double decker train which is a bit weird, but its air-con and fairly comfy and we both get a fair bit of blogging done in between catching a bit of sleep.
As we approach Delhi S Rohilla station we move our stuff into the doorway to make for a speedy exit and this gives us the chance to get some excellent pics and video out of the open doorway.

As per usual we got mithered to death as we got off the train by all the taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers, we made our pick of the 'best of a bad bunch' and check-in to The Manor. Its a colonial style boutique hotel in a district known as New Friends Colony West. Its proper posh, all the homes stand alone in their own bit of land within a gated community....no rickshaws and street hawkers around here!
We sat in the bar and had a drink whilst we planned our next move into an area called Chandni Chowk.
Chandni Chowk (CC) is supposed to be THE authentic taste of delhi street food, and is slap bang in the centre of Old Delhi, i had read an article on the top five places to eat in CC, so i set my heart on finding them all!
After a horrendously long rickshaw ride we get out and walk the rest of the way, and it all starts really well, we stumble across the 'old & famous jalebiwala' which has been vending Samosas and Jalebi from here for over a hundred years! So i order 1 of each for 60p and tuck in.
The Samosa is nice and crispy, with potato, onion masala filling and the green chutney on the side is eye wateringly hot, the jalebi on the other hand was all stodgy, greasy and ridiculously sweet. I only ate half of it!

Alas our luck ran out here, we walked up and down for about an hour looking for the other places on the list, two we just couldn't find because the building numbering system was invented by a 5 yr old, one place was all boarded up, and i really didn't fancy the look of the Ghatewala! We did however treat ourselves to an Onion Kachori, which is kind of like a pasty, very tasty!
CC is seriously busy, and the main street that runs through it is essentially a traffic jam with every single driver just leaning on his horn continuously...its too much and not our favourite place in the world, so we make a hasty retreat for the sanctity of The Manor!
