This typifies the juxtaposition of our holidays! We feel at home in a cow dung hut with no walls, where you get stuck in and help with making the tea - and we also feel equally at home in the opulence and splendour of the Waterstones hotel! Flipping heck this place is posh....too posh for the likes of me..... But not Gem lol x
As we pulled into the main driveway of the hotel, away from the absolute madness that is Mumbai traffic, we knew this was going to be an oasis.
Its very contemporary in design and the person who styled it is really into textures as there are lots of grasses on the walls and flower pots suspended from the ceiling and that sort of thing.

As you step out of the elevator you are greeted by roses
Our room is on the 'FIRE FLOOR' and is really stylish, with a central headboard that glows amber, a window into the shower room from the main living area and easily the best air-con so far! (I cracked open the beer and wine within five minutes of shutting the door!)
Now this doesnt happen very often.... Infact never before has this happened come to think of it.... We cocked up our dates and got a booking wrong!
I know i know shock horror
We booked a street food tour for this evening because we thought we had booked a romantic meal in the 'room with a view' for the following night, but as it turns out we had booked them both for tonight! (Should have twigged when being shown around by the manager and he pointed to the room with a view saying they had a booking that evening and it was being made ready for them) thankfully it was quickly sorted with a few emails and calls to reception.
Room with a view tonight, street food tour tomorrow, and also booked in for a massage in 20 mins so best get our skates on.
The west coast of India is famous for Ayurveda, and the massage that i had was some form of deep tissue ayurvedic cleanse massage.....oh my god i had no idea my back could crack the way that it did! And i also didnt know that if you pull your earlobes down hard and fast in a particular motion that they too can crack! (Dont try this at home kids). Gem seemed to really enjoy hers and i felt like i did ten rounds with Mukesh Tyson, then i am informed Gem booked herself a much gentler relaxing massage, none of the yanking and cracking... She fell asleep in hers!
Gem floats and i hobble back to our room to get ready for our private dining experience.
