Part 5 kebabs and sweet treats

We headed to our next stop, the kebab house. We had a quick nosey in the kitchen before being served some goat and paneer kebabs and some chargrilled/ bbq chicken. It was all delicious and served with chutneys and a very thin bread but i can't remember what it was called.

After the kebab place we were taken to a place a little further out from the defence colony and into the outer regions where there was a kind of bakery come fast food joint. We got scanned by a metal detector as we went in, kind of odd considering the type of venue it was. Nonetheless we all tucked into some rugby shaped bread that was called a bhatura, It was very tasty and even yummier when dipped (phill would say used as a vessel! ) into the lentil, chickpea and potato dahl that was served alongside. I really liked this taster dish. Phill clearly did too as I had to move it away from him so he didn't eat the lot!

We then ended the evening with a little box of treats. I had kind of already thought that the puds weren't for me as i am not that over keen on the sweets and pastries in Morocco and they are pretty similar here. However, i like to at least try everything so i did and i found myself thinking three of them were ok, one of them was like a coconut ice, the other one i liked was basically brown sugar and nuts and honey and the other one was a nutty flapjack style thing made with buttermilk i seem to remember.

They were ok but not something i will try to make at home, they are no baklava!

The food tour was really good. Its hard to just take a food tour now and be surprised by it as we have such fond memories of the taste of hoi an one when in Vietnam. I don't want to compare them as they were very different in style and substance. We got to meet a lovely man, eat some lovely food and visit some of the places that indians go to eat, thats what we loved about it and we learnt so much. A really good night and off we toddle to bed with very full bellies and very tired.....

Cue a skype call from Blake....we stayed up to chat to him and then went to sleep as we had a 5:30am start to head to Agra and its the wrong side of midnight! Xx gem
