We hopped into his car and played chicken with the auto-rickshaws before arriving at our next stop.
The guy who owned this place is an entrepreneur who, 26 years ago, had the idea of bringing south indian vegetarian cuisine to the north. At its peak he had over 40 restaurants across Delhi, and he has now sold them all off, apart from the one that we were sitting in, and Dosa is a speciality of the house.
If you have never eaten Dosa before then you must give it a go, its a batter type mix, that is spread ridiculously thinly over a hotplate and cooked until crispy, but shaped while its still hot and pliable into a large cigar-shape roll.

It comes with chutneys, we had tamarind tomato and chilli, green coriander chutney, and white coconut chutney, and there was also a soup called Sambar with had tamarind and lentils in it. There were also doughnut type bread called Vada made from fermented soya milk and spices, these were pretty bland on their own but a great way of getting the lovely chutney in your gob!
Inside the Dosa is a really tasty mash potato seasoned with black onion seeds, and i think Garam Masala. This is excellent sharing food and we will be definitely giving this a go at home.
